सह्याद्रीच्या डोंगररांगेत चंद्रविहीन रात्री पहा, हजारो लहान काजवे जमिनीवरच्या ताऱ्यांसारखे चमकतात. हाच आहे काजवा महोत्सव – पावसाळ्यापूर्वी दरवर्षी होणारा एक आश्चर्यकारक नैसर्गिक सोहळा. महाराष्ट्रात पुरुषवाडी, भंडारदरा, राजमाची येथे काजवे रात्रीचे जंगल अलौकिक बनवतात. बायोल्युमिनेसेन्स या प्रक्रियेमुळे हे कीटक प्रकाश तयार करतात – नर काजवा मादीला आकर्षित करण्यासाठी ही नैसर्गिक ज्योत निर्माण करतो.

काजवे प्रकाश व प्रदूषणास अतिसंवेदनशील असतात. कृपया मोबाईल फ्लॅश, जोरात संगीत, प्लास्टिक टाळा. नियुक्त मार्गावरच रहा, काजवे पकडू नका. निसर्गात त्यांना मुक्तपणे चमकू द्या. पुन्हा वापरता येण्याजोगी पाण्याची बाटली, हलका जाकीट, चांगले बूट, लाल प्रकाशाचा टॉर्च आणि कुतूहल या गोष्टी सोबत नक्की आणा.
