DHANATRAYODASHI CELEBRATION IN 2024

Dhanvantari pooja will be performed on Tuesday, October 29. Held two days before Diwali, this festival is celebrated by everyone wishing happiness and prosperity. Worshiping Dhanteras is beneficial. मंगळवार २९ ऑक्टोबर रोजी धन्वंतरीची पूजा केली जाणार आहे. दीपावलीच्या दोन दिवस आधी आयोजित करण्यात आलेला हा सण प्रत्येकजण आनंद आणि समृद्धीच्या शुभेच्छा देऊन साजरा असतो. धनतेरसला करण्यात येणारी पूजा लाभदायक असते. धनत्रयोदशीची संपूर्ण पूजाविधी, महत्व आणि मंत्र तसेच पुजेचा शुभ मुहूर्त जाणून घेऊया.

This year Dhantrayodashi is going to be celebrated on 29th October on Krishna Paksha’s Trayodashi Tithi i.e. thirteenth day of Ashwin month. Held two days before Diwali, this festival is celebrated by everyone with wishes of happiness and prosperity. On this day everyone buys something new from the market according to their ability. यावर्षी २९ ऑक्टोबरला कृष्ण पक्षातील त्रयोदशी तिथीला म्हणजेच अश्विन महिन्यातील तेराव्या दिवशी धनत्रयोदशी साजरी केली जाणार आहे. दीपावलीच्या दोन दिवस आधी आयोजित करण्यात आलेला हा सण प्रत्येकजण आनंद आणि समृद्धीच्या शुभेच्छा देऊन साजरा करतो. या दिवशी प्रत्येकजण आपापल्या क्षमतेनुसार बाजारातून काहीतरी नवीन खरेदी करतो. सोन्या-चांदीचे दागिने इ. खरेदी करतात. तसेच, बरेच लोक नवीन वाहन किंवा नवीन घर घेण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात.

According to scriptures, the festival of Dhantrayodashi is a day to pray to Yamaraja, the god of death, to get rid of the fear of untimely death. Apart from this, the tradition of worshiping Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Kubera, the god of wealth, has also been going on since ancient times. Just as Lord Ganesha is the Lord of Siddhi-Buddhi, Kubera is the Lord of Wealth. He is also worshiped along with Lord Shankara. Special worship is done with Mahalakshmi. Kubera is also the lord of north direction. Apart from this, Dhanvantari Jayanti is celebrated as Dhanvantari Jayanti in the medical community due to the birth of Lord Dhanvantari, the founder of Ayurveda.

धर्मग्रंथानुसार धनत्रयोदशीचा हा सण अकाली मृत्यूच्या भीतीतून मुक्त होण्यासाठी मृत्यूची देवता यमराजाला प्रार्थना करण्याचा दिवस आहे. याशिवाय धनाची देवी लक्ष्मी आणि धनाची देवता कुबेर यांची पूजा करण्याची परंपराही प्राचीन काळापासून चालत आलेली आहे. ज्याप्रमाणे श्रीगणेश हा सिद्धी-बुद्धीचा स्वामी आहे, त्याचप्रमाणे कुबेर हा धनाचा स्वामी आहे. यांचे पूजन भगवान शंकरासोबत देखील केले जाते. महालक्ष्मीसोबत तर विशेष पूजा केली जाते. उत्तर दिशेचा अधिपती देखील कुबेर आहे. याशिवाय आयुर्वेदाचे संस्थापक भगवान धन्वंतरी यांच्या जन्मामुळे वैद्य समाजात धनत्रयोदशी ही धन्वंतरी जयंती म्हणून साजरी केली जाते.

Donate a lamp to Yamaraja on Dhantrayodashi
It is believed that a ghee or sesame oil lamp should be lit on the south side of the main door of the house on this day to avoid untimely death from Yamaraja. This pleases Dharmaraj and no member of that household dies prematurely. Also put some money in ghee or sesame oil lamp. Remember that the wick of the lamp should be four-sided i.e. facing different directions and should be in the south direction of the main door. Chant the following mantra while lighting the lamp.

“Mrityuna Paash Dandabhya Kalen Cha Maya Sa.
Trayodashyam Deepanat Surya: Preyatamiti.”

धनत्रयोदशीला यमराजाला दिवा दान करा
यमराजाकडून अकाली मृत्यू होऊ नये या इच्छेने या दिवशी घराच्या मुख्य दरवाजाच्या दक्षिण दिशेला तूप किंवा तिळाच्या तेलाचा दिवा लावावा, असे मानले जाते. यामुळे धर्मराज प्रसन्न होतो आणि त्या घरातील कोणत्याही सदस्याचा अकाली मृत्यू होत नाही. तुपाच्या किंवा तिळाच्या तेलाच्या दिव्यात काही पैसेही टाकावेत. लक्षात ठेवा दिव्याची वात चारमुखी म्हणजेच वेगवेगळ्या दिशांना असावी आणि मुख्य दरवाजाच्या दक्षिण दिशेला असावी. दिवा लावताना खालील मंत्राचा जप करावा.

“मृत्युना पाश दण्डाभ्यां कालेन च मया सह।
त्रयोदश्यां दीपदानात् सूर्यज: प्रीयतामिति॥”

How to worship Kubera on Dhantrayodashi
On DHANATRAYODHASHI, as per the time given above, during the Pradosh period, for the worship of Kubera, the god of wealth, first of all, light thirteen lamps and meditate on Kubera with this mantra at the place where the money is kept.

“Yakshaya Kubera Vaishravanai Dhan-Dhanyadhipatye
Dhanya-Dhanya Samriddhi Me Dehi Dapay Swaha”

धनत्रयोदशीला कुबेराची पूजा कशी करावी?

या दिवशी धन्यावादाने प्रदोषाचे धन देवता कुबेराच्या पूजेसाठी तेरा दिवे पैसा ठेवण्याच्या ठिकाणी या मंत्राने कुबेर ध्यान करावे.
“यक्षाय कुबेराय वैश्रवणाय धन-धान्याधिपत्ये धन-धान्य समृद्धि मे देही दापय स्वाहा”

Apart from this one can also meditate on Kubera with the following mantra
“Om Shree Oom Hreen Hreen Hreen Kleen Sree Kleen Financesvaraya Nam:.”

याशिवाय खालील मंत्रानेही कुबेराचे ध्यान करता येते
“ऊँ श्री ऊँ ह्रीं श्रीं ह्रीं क्लीं श्रीं क्लीं वित्तेश्वराय नम:।”

After meditation, seven kinds of grains (wheat, udaid, gram, gram, barley, rice and lentil) should be offered to Goddess Lakshmi and Kubera and both should be worshiped with flowers, Akshat and incense. It is preferable to use white colored sweets for Bhoga after pooja. Worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on this day is believed to attain Lakshmi.

ध्यानानंतर सात प्रकारचे धान्य (गहू, उडीद, मूग, हरभरा, जव, तांदूळ आणि मसूर) देवी लक्ष्मी आणि कुबेर यांना अर्पण करावे आणि दोघांचे फुल, अक्षत आणि उदबत्तीने पूजन करावे. पूजेनंतर भोगासाठी पांढऱ्या रंगाची मिठाई वापरणे श्रेयस्कर आहे. या दिवशी देवी लक्ष्मीची पूजा केल्यास लक्ष्मीची प्राप्ती होते, असे मानले जाते.

What to buy on Dhantrayodashi

Bringing silver idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha in the house on this day is believed to bring wealth, success and progress. It is mentioned in the scriptures that Lord Dhanwantari, the father of Ayurveda, descended with an urn in the churning sea, so vessels are specially bought on this day. Buying utensils or silver on this day is said to increase it thirteen times.

Dhanvantari should be worshiped for a healthy body on Dhantrayodashi
Lord Dhanwantari, the father of Ayurveda, is also worshiped on the day of Dhantrayodashi. Reciting or listening to Vishnu Sahasranama before worshiping Dhanvantari in the morning on this day brings health benefits. Worshiping them is believed to give the worshiper good health and keep him healthy throughout his life.

धनत्रयोदशीला काय खरेदी करावे

या दिवशी लक्ष्मी आणि गणेशाची चांदीची मूर्ती घरात आणणे धन, यश आणि प्रगती वाढवणारे मानले जाते. आयुर्वेदाचे जनक भगवान धन्वंतरी समुद्रमंथनात कलश घेऊन अवतरले होते, असा उल्लेख शास्त्रात आहे, त्यामुळे या दिवशी भांडी विशेष खरेदी केली जातात. या दिवशी भांडी किंवा चांदी खरेदी केल्याने ते तेरा पटीने वाढते असे म्हणतात.

धनत्रयोदशीला निरोगी शरीरासाठी धन्वंतरीची पूजा करावी
आयुर्वेदाचे जनक भगवान धन्वंतरी यांचीही धनत्रयोदशीच्या दिवशी पूजा केली जाते. या दिवशी सकाळी धन्वंतरीची पूजा करण्यापूर्वी विष्णु सहस्रनामाचे पठण किंवा श्रवण केल्यास आरोग्यास लाभ होतो. त्यांची पूजा केल्याने उपासकाला उत्तम आरोग्य मिळते आणि आयुष्यभर निरोगी राहते असा समज आहे.
