Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other prominent ministers, was thanked for approving this long-pending request. The declaration followed extensive efforts to highlight Marathi’s rich literary history, including works such as Leelacharitra, Dnyaneshwari, and Viveksindhu, which were cited to demonstrate the language’s classical nature.
